These daily swings in warranty payout are not logical. I suspect that it is either the calculation method of posters or… the payout amount does not depend on the date of payout but the date of issue of loan.

Your calculations are not correct. You compare total received principle to loaned amount, but correct way is to compare principal you receive from sell to principal balance before sell.
Correct formula is “Loan sold”/(“Loaned amount” - “Paid principal” + “Loan sold”)
For contract L16102997 correct calculation would be 3,48/(10-8,01+3,48)=0,63619. Compensation is 63,62%, not 80,10%.
